Running Board Installation
Wanting a smooth running board, Mark elected not to weld the 162 holes in each original running board, instead opting for a new set from Smoothie Fabrications. They are formed from 16 gauge material and bolt on using the original bolt hole locations.
Dealing with the variances in bodies and frames some fine tuning may be needed. After a fit check, some minor trimming on the front corner and slotting several holes was required to achieve the desired fit. With the running board temporarily bolted in place the lower braces were clamped to the running board, their locations marked and then tack welded together. The running board was then removed and the brace locations were double checked before welding them on.
The finished installation looks great. A wide range of applications are available from Smoothie Fabrications to fit your needs.
